The “Arts to Elders” initiative seeks to bring free live musical theater mini-performances to elders who currently reside in assisted living communities in Prince William County. Our young actors, all children and teens, perform a medley of songs from current and past musicals for residents. This initiative strives to improve the overall quality of life for those living in assisted living facilities. The goal is to bring joy, value, and a sense of identity through connection, as well as reduce chronic loneliness among residents. Most importantly, we want to create connections among multiple generations through music and theater! The impact is two-fold, not only benefiting our older generation but teaching our young actors about service, the social impact of the arts, and reducing age-related stereotypes. We hope that this program will have a lasting impact on our community - the community we love so much!
